Working with us
Tufnell Park is a happy and dynamic primary school including nursery classes and two-year old provision. We are currently a two form entry.
Like many inner city primary schools, our children come from a wide range of backgrounds, including some families in difficult circumstances. This makes Tufnell Park a challenging and rewarding place to work.
Exciting times are ahead for those who join our team. We are currently a good school (Ofsted, October 2022) but have high aspirations to improve further in all areas, and the capacity to do so.

In September 2019, we moved into a beautiful new building , with expanded state of the art facilities, reflecting the high aspirations we hold for our community. We are excited by the development this promotes, whilst carefully striving to retain the current ‘feel’ of our smaller school, where every child is known.

We are well supported by a very effective governing body and an active Parent Teacher Association, ensuring our community fully engages in the life and aims of the school.
Our staff are:
- committed to the challenges around raising the attainment of all children to ensure that we build a cohesive community of learners who aspire to achieve the very best for our school.
- passionate about great teaching and lifelong learning.
- fully engaged with the families and community they serve.
- creative innovators, with the drive and spark to devise and shape experiences that ensure all our children become resourceful, resilient and responsible citizens.
- caring, warm and fun to be around!

What we can offer you…
- Supported collaborative planning approaches that place children at the heart of the learning experience. PPA is arranged in teams where possible, covered by a regular team of qualified teachers and specialists. Staff can have remote access to school drives from home if required.
- Extensive opportunities for career progression and CPD through our expansion programme.
- High levels of expertise and experience in pastoral and SEN care, including strong collaborative relationships with specialist services and schools (The Bridge, SRS)
- Access to an extensive range of resources that bring learning to life, through the Islington Education Library Service.
- A new, state of the art learning environment, with well-designed and newly equipped classrooms, group rooms, teacher work areas and specialist teaching spaces (library, sports hall, music/dance studio, science/art/cookery rooms, SEN suite).
- Membership of a partnership of 21 local schools, known as Futurezone, which organises professional development, training and a range of collaborative opportunities.
- Location in an exciting area of north London, very well supported by transport links. Staff salary scheme can support with travel costs through Transport for London (annual travel pass) and the cycle to work scheme.
