Choosing Tufnell Park Primary

Welcome to Tufnell Park! I am extremely proud to be headteacher of this vibrant and exciting school. We pride ourselves on being a school that reflects our local community in all its diversity. We all bring a wide variety of experience and knowledge to Tufnell Park, and celebrate and draw strength from that. Children learn that we must not only tolerate and respect difference, but that there are huge benefits in learning from one another. Ours is a school where parents, children and staff value the opportunity to work together for the benefit of all. And together, we certainly deliver – see our fantastic results here!

In September 2019, we moved into a stunning brand new building, with expanded state of the art facilities and landscaped grounds reflecting the high aspirations we hold for our community. Our site on the brow of a hill gives wonderful views across North London—big skies and wide horizons are always in evidence. We are surrounded by natural wildlife spaces and mature trees, so we are able to enjoy a peaceful and containing space that brings us close to nature, whilst still being only minutes away from the heart of London and all that offers.

Our curriculum has been designed with inclusivity at its heart to raise aspirations and give all pupils appropriate experiences to ensure they become resourceful, resilient and responsible citizens, ready to lead successful lives at secondary school and beyond. We are a good school—children make rapid progress and achieve highly in core learning, as our results show. However, we also strive to ensure that rich, relevant and well-planned experiences across the breadth of our entire curriculum lead to deep learning and the development of character and good learning habits. We strive to make our curriculum a place where children and can discover and develop their particular abilities and talents, whatever they might be.

Our school community has identified two particular aspects of learning to prepare our children for future success.  The intention is that all our children become skilled and discerning users of technology, and passionate, knowledgeable advocates for the natural environment, for sustainable practices, and for healthy, active lifestyles. You can read more about this in our vision statement and school promise.

At Tufnell Park Primary, we are all on a learning journey—children, parents and staff alike—with a shared expectation that we should be improving all the time. We are committed to being the best school that we can possibly be, and also to the success and happiness of those in our community. We would love for you to accompany us on our exciting journey.

Best wishes,

Martin Scarborough
