Letters and Sounds (Learning to Read and Write)

Well done for carrying on the great work in Letters and Sounds. 

Today’s 2 adjacent sounds are ‘n’ and ‘k’ and the PowerPoint slides can be found here (on which you can move things around) and the PDF can be found here (you can use these anywhere).

Maths – Positional Language

You will need to play this game with your child.  Or, if they have older siblings get them to join in too.  Give them various instructions modelling the use of positional language.  For example, stand next to me.  Stand in front me.   Next ask your child to give you instructions.   

Something Else…

Today’s ‘something else’ activity is to carry out an experiment and make predictions about things that will float and sink in water.  Ask your adult to let you have 5 objects from around your home that it will be OK to get wet.  You’ll also need or bowl of water or ask if you can use a sink.

Look at the objects your adult has chosen.  Predict or guess whether they will sink or float when you put them in the water.  Try to write the name of the object first and then write ‘sink’ of ‘float’ next to it – remember to use your sounds.  Do let me know how you got on.
