Week Beginning Monday, May 18th
I hope that you had a lovely weekend and were able to spend some time safely outside.
Plan for the Week
You can find our plan for the week here.
The Maths Challenge Cup!
This week we are going to do maths in a whole new way. We are going to do all our maths in one day, and that day is today! To help us will be competing for, that is, trying to win the Maths Challenge Cup! (See the attached video for more on the Maths Challenge Cup.)
To win the Maths Challenge Cup you must complete the 5 challenges below. You’ll need to download the challenges here, write your answers down and then send me a photograph of what you’ve written. The first person to send me answers to all the challenges will be the winner! If you cannot download and print the sheet, just write down your answers on a piece of paper.
The 5 Challenges
(1) Count the number of windows in your home and write it down;
(2) Count how many circles you can see are in front room;
(3) Write down ALL the numerals you can see in your home;
(4) Build a tower – you can use what you like, then count how many objects you have used; and,
(5) Count how many chairs in your home, then count how many TVs there, add these together and write down the answer.
Books and Songs
As this is the last week of the half-term at school we would normally revisit our Book and Songs of the Week in order to make sure we have really learnt them, so that is what we will do here.
The book we will be reading again today is Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs which you can find here.
The song we will be singing again today is Old MacDonald had a Farm. You can find the lyrics here.
And a nicely sung version of it here:
Letters and Sounds (Learning to Read and Write)
We have only have a couple more days left of learning how to combine adjacent sounds, so do enjoy them!
Today’s 2 adjacent sounds are ‘b’ and ‘r’ and the PowerPoint slides can be found here and the PDF can be found here.
Have fun, take care of each other and don’t forget to ‘Get Physical’.
Yours, Terry
