UPDATE – 24 February 2022
Following the recent announcement regarding changes to Covid guidance and restrictions, we still await further advice as to what that will look like in practice for schools. However, in the meantime I am informing you of our position, based on information shared with us by the DfE.
From Thursday 24 February, the Government will remove the legal requirement to self-isolate following a positive test.
However, anyone testing positive for Covid is still strongly advised to avoid contact with other people for at least 5 full days, and until they have received 2 negative tests.
There is no longer a requirement for close contacts to self-isolate, whether you are vaccinated or not. Staff and children are therefore advised to attend schools as normal, unless they themselves have tested positive for Covid, or are showing Covid symptoms. Tests remain free and available to all until at least April 1 2022.
Although we appreciate this is now guidance rather than a legal requirement, we ask that all parents adhere to the above and continue to isolate if testing positive for Covid. This will be vital in helping us to maintain a safe environment, where children, parents and staff remain Covid-free, and school stays open for all without the need for any further restrictions.
Our position at Tufnell Park (as implied by current government guidance) is to behave as responsibly as we would with any other community-spread infection (such as chicken pox, or gastroenteritis) – that is, if you or your child are infectious, please avoid contact with other community members out of consideration.
