Early Years Art Week Gallery - Beginning: Monday 29th June

This week is Art Week in the Early Years and here is where you will find lots of photographs and maybe videos of the wonderful things that we will be doing at home and in school.

Corona

Painting in the style of Jackson Pollock

Jackson Pollock was an abstract expressionist artist. The abstract expressionists were a group of young New York artists who made paintings that were non-representational, meaning they didn’t look like anything. Instead they tried to show emotions, like happiness or anger, in the expressive marks that they made in their drawings, paintings and sculptures. His art is famous for being splashy, drippy and messy painting!

We used string dipped in paint to make marks on our paper.

We then used pipettes to splash paint on the paper.

This technique helped to create colourful paintings

**Children at home as well as in school used string and dripping method to create their art.**

Pegasus I

Painting in the style of Wassily Kandinsky

Wassily Kandinsky was a Russian painter. Many people think he was the first abstract artist. Kandinsky thought a lot about what colours mean and how they make people feel. He believed that colours had a soul. Kandinsky thought a lot about what colours mean and how they make people feel. He believed that colours had a soul.

Pictures in the style of Henri Matisse

We are also focusing our art on the artist Henri Matisse and his famous ‘painting’ the Snail. In fact it is not a painting at all, because Matisse, as he got older could no longer paint and instead began to cut and tear paper to make art instead.

The children in Pegasus 2 are also looking at the work of Kandinsky.

Cygnus

We have been studying the work of Henri Matisse in Cygnus Class.

Henri Matisse used paper to make many of his artworks. We used the same process to make our pictures. We cut out our designs from coloured paper and stuck them onto black paper.

We used paper and coloured tape to make our pictures.

We also made some colourful abstract art.

Tucana Class

We have had a very busy and creative week in Tucana Class and have had a go at using a range of different techniques including sculpture, collage and printing.

Sculpture– we used clay to create coil pots. It was quite tricky so we spent a long time kneading and molding the clay.
